Captain Peter Frost

P1000357

I grew up a River Rat on the wild shores of Pine Island in the St. Lawrence Seaway, with my grandparents.  I built crude rafts, slept in canoes and wigwams, and lived on the water at all times.  We were isolated out there, with no electricity, phone, or outside distractions.   At the center of our lives were three boats: The Margaret, the Wendy, and the Tory.  I ran all three constantly, at a tender age that is now considered illegal to operate a boat.

At age 18 I moved out west, and quickly discovered the Inside Passage and a whole new world on the water.  I bought a small sailboat, became a live-aboard, and sailed to Alaska every year on my floating home.  In the shoulder seasons I worked countless wilderness trails as a Crew Leader and winters at a gold mine in Jawbone Flats, Oregon as a Caretaker.

I have lived aboard various sailboats ever since I came out west, except for my stints in the mountains.  The sea and all of her mysteries are more than a career for me, it is a life I inherited at birth, and it runs in my blood.  In life, I like to keep it interesting, keep it small, and have fun on the water in a well-kept ship with a happy crew!
